2012 Endless Summer Walk Date Set

The 2nd Annual Tween Walk will take place on September 22, 2012 following the same route. Please note the date. More information will appear on this website and on FreeWalkers.org. If you are a FreeWalker.org member we'll be posting a link to officially sign-up soon. Also, you can keep up to date on the details of the event if you sign up for the event email below (no need to sign up again if you have previously done so.)


Congratulations: Big high-fives to all 30 or so walkers who participated in the Endless Summer Walk - Bay2ocean30 this past Saturday, Oct 1!.

In spite of a threat of bad weather the day ended up being a great one for walking while still offering a touch of summer in the air. The sun only made brief guest appearances, but we were entertained by the constantly dramatic skies over the water and mild temperatures. There was lots to see and experience.

I woke to the alarm at 4:45 wondering about the weather. I’m sure I heard rain but I knew, based upon conditions the whole week, that there was no easy way to call this day. Rain was in the forecast, but it looked more like off and on showers. So, there was no good reason for cancelling. There were about 40+ walkers confirmed, although I knew that was not going to be our final count on a day like today.

By the time I got to Matawan, a little after 7:00, a few anxious walkers had already arrived.

FREEWALKERS OFFER THE PERFECT SHORE WALK

The FreeWalkers think they have found the perfect summer walk a 30-mile trek near the coast from Matawan to Asbury Park on Saturday, October 1, 2011. along trails, sidewalks and boardwalk. The event is FREE, open to the public and donations benefit the Friends of the Parks programs.

Monmouth County Extends Summer for Long Distance FreeWalkers

Asbury Park, NJ - The FreeWalkers, a social network of long-distance walkers, aims to extend the summer of 2011 for another ten days. Their plan is to walk 30 miles near the coast from Matawan to Asbury Park on Saturday, October 1, 2001, along trails, sidewalks and boardwalk . It's a time when Summer still lingers in the air and the beaches and scenery are peaceful and welcoming. The event is FREE, open to the public and supports Friends of the Parks.
